February 25, 2014
Hello Hello!
It’s been a quiet month at home with the boys and the snow, as my
bandmates have been out touring in Europe as Stephan
Crump’s Rosetta Trio. They just flew back in from
Liechtenstein (!) and then drove down to DC to play the lovely Bohemian
Caverns, which is just the spot where we will kick off our own Jen Chapin
Trio tour with Stephan and Jamie Fox next month.
But before we head a little south and a lot midwest, we’ll be bringing
the music to NYC and the world via livestream as the house band for TEDx
Manhattan: “Changing the Way We Eat.” My friend and fellow
WhyHunger
“Artists Against Hunger and Poverty” member Martha Redbone will lead the
house band — that very same internationally-acclaimed Rosetta Trio — with
me as we play our songs throughout the day amid the inspiring talks. Tune
in on March 1st!
On to the tour to DC, IN, MO, IA, IL, MI, NY & OH! The details as I
know them so far are listed below. For the heart of the tour we are
honored to be featured in the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Series,
which will have us sleeping in one place for a week while making small
trips back and forth across the northern Mississippi for our various
engagements. Other highlights include return visits to Des Moines (3/22),
Davenport (3/28), and Indianapolis (4/5); an opening slot for the
wonderful Brian Vander Ark at The Ark in Ann Arbor (3/29), and our first
show in Chicago in years (4/3)!
I’ve been thinking that it’s about time I ask for help selling
merchandise at our shows. If you’d like to help attend to the CD/LP/water
bottle table and receive two complimentary tickets and one item of your
choice at any of these shows, please let me know! This should be a pretty
low-key task, but having your help before and after the shows and during
intermission will allow me to talk and autograph without having to do
arithmetic at the same time! Just reply here if you’re interested. Thank
you! And we hope to see you.
One last note — our full band show last month in NYC was a truly magical
one, and was beautifully documented in this
kind review. We’ll reconvene on Tuesday May 20th at
Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 2, in downtown NYC. Tickets on sale now, here.
I am so grateful to all of you for making this a wonderful year of Reckoning.
Thank you for listening!
Jen
