The New York Blues Of Fame Induction Celebration will be at Kenny's Castaways on Dec 4th starting at 6pm. This year's inductees are: Charles "Honey Boy" Otis, Michael Hill, Michael Powers, Roxy Perry, Angel Rissoff, Ivan "Funkboy" Bodley, Big Ed Sullivan, Felix Cabrera, & Robert Ross. Posthumous inductees are: Frankie Paris, Mo Holmes, Wally Gator, & Crusher Green. I have had the pleasure and honor of sharing the stage, working with, or jamming with nearly every one of these great artists. It is sure to be a night to remember. Admission is $15. There will be plenty of performances, and video taping as well as the Blues Hall of Fame tribute. Thank you to my old buddy Felix Cabrera and to my new buddy and NY Blues Ambassador Roxy Perry for this great honor.

ROBERT ROSS wins NY MUSIC AWARD for Best Live & will be inducted into NY BLUES HALL OF FAME
 
2011 has been a pretty incredible year for Robert Ross. He will be inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame on December 4th, and he won his second New York Music Award for Best Live Blues Artist. The other blues artists to win this year were Cyndi Lauper and Mose Allison. Ross won his first New York Music Award for Best Blues Artist in 1989 and has been nominated a total of 7 times over the years alongside such stars as Johnny Copeland, Taj Mahal, John Hammond Jr., and Roscoe Gordon. Robert also won an East Coast Rocker Award for Best Blues Artist in 1991. He has also been nominated 7 times over the years along with the likes of John Hammond, Johnny Copeland, Taj Mahal, and Roscoe Gordon. The singer, songwriter, guitarist, slide guitarist, & harmonica player is known for a wide variety of blues, jazz, soul, rock 'n' roll, and other roots music. Robert worked and recorded with Big Joe Turner for Spivey Records & for Doc Pomus. He also worked with Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, Brownie McGhee, Memphis Slim, Sunnyland Slim, Otis Rush, Dr. John, J.B. Hutto, Victoria Spivey, Louisiana Red, Eddie Kirkland, Floyd Jones, Homesick James, Bobby Lewis, Pinetop Perkins, Charles & Cyrille Neville, David "Honey Boy" Edwards, Linda Hopkins, Wilbert Harrison, & Champion Jack Dupree. One of Ross' songs was recorded and released twice by Johnny Winter. Two other originals appeared on ABC TV's daytime drama "All My Children". The Robert Ross Band has toured Europe and North America. Ross has performed at numerous festivals including the Chicago Blues Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival, and is a perennial at the Riverhead Blues Festival on Long Island. The Robert Ross Band has released 7 internationally distributed cds.
