Po' Girl doing afternoon show in Salt Lake City Sun 11/29

I am super excited to announce that we are playing a show at our house in Salt Lake City, Utah that everyone can tune into! Please come and join us during this holiday season, for some songs and fun! It will be myself and the lovely and talented local wonders, Julia Chandler and Ja Speed. It will be Sunday the 29th, at 1pm MST (show is 30min). The reason we are holding an afternoon show, is so that our friends, family and fans over the pond can join in too! It is LIVE, there will be no recording you can later check out, so please make sure you are with us 1pm sharp! That's 8pm in the UK and 9pm Western EU. You can pay what you want and tip too. You can also type in and talk to us during the show (oh and there are prizes). We are going to decorate ourselves and the house! Can wait to have you all over!
I am also excited to announce that I am heading to the Midwest for three solo shows! I planned them in hopes to be out there to meet the baby of some of my musical family, Allison Russell and JT Nero of "Birds Of Chicago"! They are due mid December! If Miss Alli is not in labour, she will join me on a song or two at the show in Evanston IL at SPACE DEcember 13th opening for the wonderful Lucy Kaplansky!
(One other Salt Lake City, Utah show @ The Garage on Beck Dec.1st 6pm)
Dec. 7th - Lancaster WI @ Three Springs Barn - http://www.threespringsbarn.org/Site/Shows/Shows.html
Dec. 13th - Evanston IL @ SPACE w Lucy Kaplansky  http://evanstonspace.com
Dec. 14th - Fort Atkinson WI @ Cafe Carp w Peter Mulvey  http://cafecarpe.com
These will be my last shows for 2013.  All the best to you and your loved ones this holiday season and coming New Year! Much love and light.... Awna

Lots of news from Jen Chapin (our @jenchapinmusic)

November 21, 2013

Hello Hello!

As circumstances sometimes dictate, I’m going to skip the prose and go straight to the news:

I’m a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition in the Lyrics (“Go Away”) and Folk (“Let it Show”) Categories. Winners will be announced next Monday, but in the meantime you can vote in a new best song on Facebook category until Friday 11/22 if that’s your thing!

(My Facebook page at Jen Chapin Music is quite active these days, and you can check it out for updates and to throw it a “Like,” if you haven’t done so already.)

Popdose has featured the opening track from Reckoning, “It’s All Right”, in “A Songwriter’s Story.” Check it out, here.

And “It’s All Right” is also available (along with a host of other cool tracks) for a free & legal mp3 download at the music blog Largehearted Boy, here.

Tickets are now on sale for our full band show at The Cutting Room in NYC on Friday, January 17th, here.

It’s Hungerthon season at WhyHunger and I’ve set up a personal campaign to raise $2000. (i.e. $10 from 200 of you.. $5 from 400 of you.. $100 from 20 of you!) Please give if you can, here. You can also set up your own campaign, learn more about radio happenings, shop for goodies, and bid for exclusive Hungerthon auction items, here. (Also benefitting WhyHunger is an innovative and immersive new app for iPhone & iPad that tells the story of John Lennon’s 1980 trip to Bermuda and the origins of his “Double Fantasy” album.) And of course I’ll be playing solo as part of the ensemble this Saturday in a Hungerthon benefit in Park Ridge NJ.

We’re sticking to the northeast this winter but will be hitting the road again in the spring. Please consider putting a show in your plans if you are near Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan, eastern Mass, northern CT, or Rockland County NY..

Wonderful reviews for Reckoning continue to come in from the US and Europe. The latest was in the NJ Star Ledger a couple weeks ago and used the adjectives “pensive” and “spiritual” to describe the songs. Others hear a “cocky attitude” in there. And lots of interesting comments in between. What do you think?

Thanks for listening!

Jen
